Fleetwood Studios completes many carving projects as commissions.

Peter primarily uses white pine or white cedar, though has used many other mediums such as ice for his one-of-a-kind sculptures!

The size of the sculpture is limited only by the size of the piece of wood. Peter has carved a great number of bears, eagles and other birds, and welcomes customer requests for special custom pieces.

Tree stumps can be the perfect medium. If you have a tree that has reached the natural end of its life, or has to come down for other reasons, consider having it transformed into a piece of art that will last for years! A stump sculpture in a prominent place outside a home can provide a way to preserve the tree and enhance the property with an intriguing feature. Peter can come to the house and carve the stump over a few days or weeks depending on the size of the stump and the intricacy of the desired carving. Branches that are sticking out can be used to carve features such as beaks or wings.

Contact Peter before cutting your tree down to discuss the ideal portion of the tree to leave for the carving.

Logs of varying sizes can also be fantastic mediums for carving as they provide a great number of options for size and placement. These carvings are generally completed at Fleetwood Studio. Please contact Peter to discuss the piece of wood and the art that you desire.

You have the option to finish a piece yourself, or have this completed by Fleetwood Studio. There are four main finishes that we use including wood preservative:

1) Exterior paints
2) Stain with several coats of linseed oil
3) Stain and exterior spar varnish
4) No stain, linseed oil only

If you have an idea, contact us to discuss the possibilities! We will work out the dimensions, design, finishes, colours, time frame and cost estimate to create an art piece custom designed by you and for you.
